Selected 195th overall, Melvin Novotny is now a member of the Buffalo Sabres. He will play in the USHL during the 2025 -26 season, before heading to the NCAA to play for the University of Massachusetts in 2026-27. His late-round pedigree, along with his USHL/NCAA development route, will not put Novotny on the fantasy radar. After his NCAA career is over, he could be a player who ends up back in Sweden to continue his professional career. Still, if he develops properly in the next two seasons, the Sabres could sign him and play him in the American Hockey League in hopes of making him into a bottom-six contributor with the Sabres in the future.
