Scouting Feed

Dobber - DobberProspectsJune 2025

Likely AHL-bound for 2024-25, Lindstein had a successful stint in the SHL against men as a 19-year-old. He was on the bottom pairing, but still managed nine points in 44 games. He is looking to bulk up his 6-1 frame this offseason, but regardless, the Blues will want him to get used to the North American ice before bringing him up. He had four points in seven games for Team Sweden at the WJC and logged a ton of ice time. He still tries moves that work against his peers, but wouldn’t work against bigger, faster opponents. That will take an adjustment. With Torey Krug unlikely to play, if the Blues don’t bring in another body via free agency this summer, Lindstein may get a few looks in the season ahead. –

Cedrick Blais-Turcotte - DobberProspectsSeptember 2023

Lindstein’s offensive contributions were non-existent in three games at the World Junior Summer Showcase, as he failed to score a single point. This was a deception considering he produced a point per game last season in U18 tournaments. The reason for this could be the upgraded competition level since this tournament was U20. Alternatively, it could also be due to the tournament’s brevity and the team’s lack of chemistry.

Cedrick Blais-Turcotte - DobberProspectsJuly 2023

Despite a lack of production, Lindstein managed to play 32 games in the SHL last season. He was the youngest player on Brynas IF, and when he played against competition his age, he showed some offensive flair. Before bringing him to North America, the Blues will most likely let him play at least another season or two in the SHL, so he can gain as much experience as possible.

Curtis Rines - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Lindstein has been selected 29th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2023 NHL Draft.

DobberProspectsSeptember 2022

Lindstein frequently handles the puck behind the net while his team is changing lines. While patience is generally not a negative trait, Lindstein takes long periods of time that will not be afforded to him if he continues this role at the men’s level. He needs to add more pace to this transitional play, but it should be noted that this is partially a reflection of his teammates and his club’s overall game strategy.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
