Sansonnens capped off a strong campaign in Rimouski in the Memorial Cup. The Océanic did not win a game, and much of their defensive core struggled to stop the high-powered attack of other teams. For Sansonnens, he played a key role in the team’s first few rounds of the QMJHL playoffs. Aside from a four-game point streak against Shawinigan, he was not a factor offensively but continued to stifle the opposition and showcase his defensive prowess. For the 2025-26 season, Sansonnens will head home to Switzerland and continue his contract with Lausanne HC. It will likely be a while before we see him back in North America, but he could be an interesting defensive option for teams.

Sansonnens has quietly fit nicely on North American ice this season. His big frame and rangy stick have given him some nice success on a strong Rimouski blue line. Additionally, he has given Rimouski some unexpected offense, with one goal and ten assists. The Océanic sits second in the QMJHL standings, but Sansonnens has played a nice role on the team’s blue line for the remainder of the year.

Sansonnens is a defensive defenseman who isn’t known for his offensive production. The 6-foot-3 Swiss defenseman uses his size and mobility to shut down attackers. He is limited offensively but is serviceable in breaking the puck out of the zone. While he is under contract with Lausanne in the Swiss National League, the club has loaned him to the Rimouski Océanic for this season. Sansonnes will be able to showcase his defensive prowess on North American ice.
