Boisvert signed his entry-level contract with Chicago on March 16. He totaled 17 points in 26 games in a down season overall for Boston University (17-17-2) during the 2025-26 season.

Boisvert’s move to Boston University has changed how his offense is showing up this season. Through 12 games he has 11 points, with most of that coming from his playmaking rather than his shot. He’s more involved in the flow of play, touching the puck in motion and creating off the half wall, even if the goal totals have not followed yet. The engagement level is there, and the reads are coming quicker. That’s a noticeable shift from last season at North Dakota, where his impact was driven by finishing. At BU, Boisvert is expanding his offensive range and learning to create as much as he finishes.

Sacha Boisvert is taking his game to Boston University after a strong freshman year at North Dakota. The Blackhawks prospect made the NCAA jump look easy and with now heading to BU, he will be in a top-tier program that knows how to develop NHL-ready talent. With his steady two-way play and offensive upside, do not be surprised if he builds on last year’s success. A 40+ point season feels well within reach as he continues climbing Chicago’s prospect ladder.

Boisvert has made a smooth transition to NCAA hockey at North Dakota, sitting first in team scoring with 32 points in 37 NCAA games. He has adjusted well to the NCAA level, highlighted by earning the NCHC Rookie of the Month honors back in November. Boisvert has a solid chance of becoming a middle-six role player with 50-point upside. Surrounded by top-tier talent like Connor Bedard and Oliver Moore in Chicago’s pipeline, Boisvert’s development in a strong NCAA program gives him every chance to make a meaningful impact.

April 2024Boisvert is quite the case study. There’s little denying how easy it is to see Boisvert play an NHL role. He’s got the size, IQ, and shot to be an NHL center to some capacity. There are also notable moments of skill. Boisvert loves to utilize his long reach and will make nice slip passes or make booming cuts to get his shot off. Those moments are great, and if they’re enough to convince one of Boisvert’s upside, that’d be fair. There are just as many moments where Boisvert can leave you wanting. This player that is being laid out: the big, skilled, intelligent center with serious offensive skill, should look more active than Boisvert is. That lack of “oomph” or dynamism keeps Boisvert away from the “top-6” center upside he should be garnering. However, I still believe he could be a very good matchup-focused middle-six centremen, and at his current range, that’s a very respectable pick to make, but you can’t help but wonder how much more might be beneath the surface. Boisvert is an interesting profile. Most of his points early on this year came off of high-skill plays, but ones that aren’t quite repeatable. As his highlight-reel plays decreased, however, his game got more nuanced and scout-friendly.

The Lumberjacks forward has some clear weaknesses — the lack of knee bend in his skating holds him back as he struggles to cut back against pressure and get involved in offensive transitions, and his defensive game falters as a result as well — but the upside is there. He makes plays in stride, identifies his next play early, and knows when to let on-ice scenarios develop instead of rushing his ideas. He then executes well with a solid shot, great hands, and adept passing skills. If he gets drafted to a team with a track record of improving their prospects’ skating strides, expect considerable growth out of Boisvert. (November rankings: 23rd overall)
