Andre Mondoux is a big, physical, stay-at-home defenseman the New York Rangers selected 162nd overall, exactly the kind of size-and-defending blueliner the franchise has favored for years. At 6-foot-4 and 200 pounds he defends downhill, closes gaps on the reception, and kills transitional attacks with his reach and solid feet, and scouts praised his leadership and consistency for the Kingston Frontenacs. The offense is minimal, six goals and 18 points in 66 games, and it is not the reason to like him. This is a defensive projection through and through. A 2007-born re-entry who went undrafted in his first year of eligibility, he earned the pick with a strong overage season and a smart, simple game with the puck. He returns to Kingston for 2026-27 before enrolling at the University of Notre Dame in 2027. For fantasy his standalone value is limited given the low point ceiling, and his real-hockey path as a bottom-pairing shutdown option will outrun his fantasy relevance. He is a deep-league monitor only, worth another look if the puck-moving side of his game grows at Notre Dame.
Michael’s Monthly: October
Barrie hasn’t had a good start to the season, so it was surprising that this game was fairly back and forth up until the 3rd period. Barrie got off to a quick lead, but Kingston answered with two of their own from Misiak. Barrie tied it before the end of the 1st period, and scored 28 seconds into the 2nd. This time André Mondoux tied the game twice, once at 3-3 and again at 4-4 after another goal by Barrie. It was here in the third that Kingston took over and Misiak scored 2 more goals, helping his team win 7-4.
Game Report – Kingston Frontenacs 4 vs Brampton Steelheads 2 – October 9th, 2026
Kingston wasted little time finding the equalizer. On the following shift, André Mondoux sent a wrist shot from the point through traffic that found the back of the net. It was a shot Brampton goaltender Oskari Ahmajärvi likely should have stopped, tying the game at 1-1.
Weekly 2027 Draft Eligible Three Stars
Kulemin helped the Frontenacs to open the scoring in his first game of the week against the Peterborough Petes. Using his big frame down low, Kulemin picked up the puck down below the opposing goal line. He fed Landon Wright, who found draft-eligible defender Matt Henderson wide open at the point. Henderson wired a wrist high and over the goalie to give Kulemin a secondary helper. The Woodbridge, ON native added another helper later in the first period. He won an offensive zone face-off straight to winger Robin Kuzma. Subsequently, the winger sent it to New York Rangers draft pick Andre Mondoux, who wired a wrist shot home.
