Guité is now four points away from tying last season’s abysmal campaign of 30 points; there are still 39 games left to play this season. Whatever held his game back to such a degree last season is gone, and he is back to his scoring ways. His effort on the defensive side of the puck is more noticeable, and even though he loses board battles and gets overpowered more than one would like, the effort is clearly there now. His standout abilities are still his offensive positioning and shot, two skills that should keep him on any fantasy manager’s radar.

Guité shows repeated flashes of high-end offensive skill. His ability to find space, adjust his timing, and shoot heavy shots even under pressure is noteworthy. Guité is an inconsistent forechecker, sometimes being great and other times being lackadaisical. He’s capable of making smart possession plays and demonstrating strong awareness. His recent step back in development raises concerns about his long-term projection. Guité still has two more seasons to prove he can rebound. He will need to improve his skating and physical strength to better retrieve and protect pucks, giving him more control and consistency in all three zones. The foundation for a high-end sniper is already here, but it still needs significant development.
