Slukynsky signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings in April 2026. His deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $1.07M and runs through the 2028-29 season.

“Hammer” Slukynsky was signed by the Los Angeles Kings to a three year entry-level contract through the 2028-29 season, and will immediately join the Ontario Reign on a professional tryout agreement for the rest of the 2025-26 season. Looking at the Hammer’s NCAA stats this season, they appear a little underwhelming compared to his rookie season in 2024-25. However, there is an important observation to be made. During the first half of the NCAA season, Hammer was sporting a sub .900 save percentage, but then continuously improved the rest of the season to finish with a .915 save percentage. This shows he was able to re-focus during the season, something that goalies in the NHL must do regularly after bad stretches. Compounding that mental strength is the fact he started all 39 of Western Michigan’s games in 2025-26 games, so his coach never lost confidence in him. An impressive sign of trust in such a young netminder that will surely carry over to the AHL over the next few seasons.

An NCAA rookie in 2024-2025, Hampton Slukynsky joined his big brother Grant at Western Michigan University, and posted a 19-5-1 record to go along with a 1.90 GAA and .922 save percentage. His GAA put him fourth in the NCAA among goalies with 20 games or more under their belt and 13th by save percentage. Smallish by NHL goalie standards at just 6-1, Slukynsky uses his raw athleticism and reflexes to challenge shooters. Goalies are a crapshoot by nature, and it will remain to be seen if his style can overcome his size at the NHL level, but his performance at this stage in his career is undeniable. He is worth stashing in all dynasty leagues, but needs to be given time to develop with the translatability of his game to the next level kept in mind.

In his first season at Western Michigan University, Slukynsky has played in 12 games and has a 7-4-1 record with a 1.57 GAA and .942 SV%.

He plays with a calm demeanor and great leadership which is a huge advantage to have in the crease. He plays a hybrid, butterfly style of goaltending. He shows great flexibility, has great anticipation in reading the play and when to challenge shooters. He is active with his stick, will play the puck up and stop pucks behind the net that are dumped in and set it up for his defenseman. He does not always control his rebounds the best, but he does maintain good positioning and focus to make the second or third save. Finished the tourney with a .90 SV%, and a 3.33 GAA. Slukynsky was awarded the Frank Brimsek award the day after the tourney, given to the best senior goaltender in the state. He will continue his hockey future collegiately at Northern Michigan. 2023 NHL draft eligible.

Hampton Slukynsky, G, 6-1, 170, DOB 7.2.05 He did go 4-2 with a 2.51 GAA and a .939 save %, despite playing limited games due to injury. Those are amazing numbers in a league full of elite talent and lots of offense. Slukynsky is an athletic, very focused goaltender. He follows the puck extremely well and can locate pucks even through heavy traffic in front of him. I really like that he is very active with his stick, trying to play the puck whenever he can and looks confident and capable in doing so. Needs to work on the accuracy of his passes. Has good technique, moves laterally in the butterfly very effectively and positionally sound on his slides. Hybrid goaltender who traps pucks into his body effortlessly on shots outside the slot. Gives up some ugly, loose rebounds but is able to recover and with quick pushes make the 2nd or 3rd saves. Covers well low in the butterfly, stays tight and stick is in great position covering the five-hole area. Played on the USA U18 team at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup posting a 2.11 GAA and .926 save percentage in 2 games played. Shows he can play at the highest level in his age group. Look for him to be a mid to late round selection in the draft, potentially higher if he has a great year. Committed to Northern Michigan. 2023 NHL draft eligible.
