Projected potential

Bio

A big, physical winger who isn’t afraid to crash the net. A long-term prospect with a chance to be a middle-six forward who can play in all situations and contribute offensively, also adding value in hits and blocks categories.

PNHLe

PNHLe data is not available for this prospect yet.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.

Scouting Feed

Nehring capped off his freshman season as a National Champion; the Western Michigan Broncos defeated Boston University 6-2 in the 2025 Frozen Four Final. Nehring played in 42 games during the 2024-25 season and contributed offensively with 13 goals and 17 assists, averaging 0.71 points per game. He also had two power play goals and two game-winning goals. Until Nehring finishes up his NCAA career and sees playing time at the pro level, he is off the fantasy radar in all leagues.

Nehring, the lone Winnipeg Jets prospect to play in the 2025 NCAA Men’s D-I hockey tournament with Western Michigan, reached the Frozen Four for the first time in school history; the 2025 Frozen Four takes place at the Enterprise Center on April 10th and 12th, 2025, in St. Louis, Missouri. In the semi-final, Western Michigan defeated Denver 3-2 in double overtime to advance to the final on April 12 against Boston University at 7:30 pm EST.

Nehring has three goals and three assists in eight games in his first season at Western Michigan. He was named NCHC Rookie of the Month for October.

Nehring attended the Winnipeg Jets 2024 Development Camp on July 3-7, 2024. He will not participate in the 2024 Young Stars Classic in Penticton, B.C, September 13-16, 2024. He will play at Western Michigan University during the 2024-25 season.

In 44 games with the Sioux Falls Stampede, Nehring had 14 points (nine goals and five assists). For the first time since 2019, Sioux Falls made the Clark Cup Playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 28-28-5-1 record. Their 2023-24 campaign ended with an 8-3 loss to the Tri-City Storm in game three of the first round. Nehring had two assists in three playoff games with the Stampede and now will join Western Michigan in the NCAA for the 2024-25 season.

Nehring has two goals and two assists in 11 games in his first season with the Sioux Falls Stampede. Unfortunately, he has been sidelined with an injury and has not played since October 27, 2023.

The Winnipeg Jets selected Nehring in the third round (82nd overall) in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. He played the past four seasons at Shattuck-St.Mary’s Prep School in Minnesota. In 2022-23, he had 85 points (39 goals and 46 assists) in 54 games. Nehring participated in the Jets’ 2023 Development Camp in July; he will play for Sioux Falls of the USHL during the 2023-24 season and is committed to playing for Western Michigan in the NCAA, starting in the 2024-25 campaign.
