Beckman signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators in April 2026. His deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $1.02M and runs through the 2028-29 season.

Beckman is putting together an outstanding second half following a mid-season trade from Baie-Comeau to Chicoutimi. The numbers tell a tale of two seasons: a 3.29 GAA and .905 save percentage behind a Drakkar team that offered little defensive structure, followed by a 1.52 GAA, .940 save percentage, and a 13-1-0 record with the Sagueneens in the regular season. He has carried that form into the playoffs – four wins and a 1.00 GAA in Chicoutimi’s first-round sweep of Halifax, allowing more than two goals just twice since arriving.

There is a ton to like about the Sens’ fourth-round pick, Lucas Beckman. He clocks in at an average size of 6-2 but has a very composed, highly intelligent, reserved method of play. Beckman can track the puck through traffic, and plays rarely escape him – due to his quick feet and positioning.

The Sagueneens limit his workload effectively, and the team does a strong job protecting him – but the saves he has been asked to make, he has made. Calm positioning, strong puck tracking, and a competitive level that holds under pressure are the hallmarks of his game, and Ottawa identified him as among the top goaltending prospects in the 2025 draft class on that basis. At 18, the runway is long. This second half has done nothing but reinforce why the Senators were eager to add him at the fourth-round price. A deep-format stash with genuine long-term upside.

Goalie stats often need grounding – a lot of factors go into a team’s wins and shot rates. As a 17-year-old, Beckman played 52 games, winning 31 of them – with a respectable .914 and 2.65 GAA, especially in the CHL. His team’s backup, 20-year-old Mathys Routhier, by comparison played 15 games, winning just five – with an .872 save percentage.

Staios drafted a young goalie with a long runway – and the ability to impact games. That is rare. Beckman is worth stashing in deep formats, and shallow formats should keep him on their radar in 2025-26.
