What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.

Scouting Feed

Dagenais was selected 16th overall by the Blues as they continue to fill the cupboards.

Dagenais is one of the most intriguing prospects of the 2026 class. He is a former 1st overall pick in the QMJHL and the son of former NHLer Pierre Dagenais. Standing at 6-4 and 196lbs, Dagenais is a physical beast, and it can best be seen in his reverse hits. While he still needs to work on when he decides to throw a massive reverse hit, as at times it results in him flattening somebody, but at the cost of losing possession to one of the other opponents, when he properly elects to throw a reverse hit, it is a work of art. Dagenais’ offensive skillset and size project him as a player to get NHL games at the very least. With the puck on his stick, Dagenais can wow you with highlight reel moves to get into dangerous areas where he releases his high-end shot. However, these types of plays do not show up consistently within Dagenais’ game, and there are lengthy stretches where he can disappear. However, the teenager has improved a ton this year, especially in his competitiveness, and he has taken steps that should make him a first-round pick. The biggest gripe with Dagenais is his hockey IQ. Too often does he play selfishly, and he overlooks excellent opportunities to put his team in an advantageous situation for a home run swing, which sometimes works at the QMJHL level but in all likelihood would not work at the NHL level. Based on size and skill, Dagenais is going to have lots of opportunities in the NHL, and if he can put it together, he could be a physically dominant top-six centerman.

Weekly 2027 Draft Eligible Three Stars

Meyer opened his weekend with a big outing against Shawinigan. Breaking in on an odd-man rush with St. Louis Blues prospect Maddox Dagenais, Meyer slipped it over to the 2026 first-round pick for a tap-in goal. The former Three Rivers School prep star helped facilitate great puck movement on the power play to pick up a secondary assist as the Remparts took a 3-0 lead. Just four minutes later, Meyer completed the assist hat trick. He fed Dagenais for a one-timer that bounced out for teammate Nathan Quinn. The 2025 Philadelphia Flyers sixth-round pick sent it back to Dagenais, who wired it to the top shelf.

Weekly 2026 Draft Eligible Three Stars

Maddox Dagenais | C | Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)

Quebec Remparts center Maddox Dagenais put together an impressive draft season, positioning himself as a potential late first-round or early second-round selection. The 37th-ranked skater on Draft Prospects Hockey’s 2026 NHL Draft Rankings finished tied for third among QMJHL draft eligibles with 30 goals, while his 62 points (30 goals, 32 assists) ranked fifth in the group. The 6-foot-4 pivot also represented Team CHL at the second annual CHL USA Prospects Challenge, recording an assist across the three-game series.

Dagenais has elevated his play as the stakes have increased in the postseason. Despite being held off the scoresheet in Games 1 and 2 against the Charlottetown Islanders — registering 11 shots on goal over that span — the Montreal native has responded with six points (three goals, three assists) in the following four games, helping the Remparts push their series to a decisive Game 7.

In Game 3, with the score tied late in regulation, Dagenais helped initiate the sequence that led to a dramatic, last-second power-play goal as Quebec secured a crucial victory. He followed that up with a standout performance in Game 4, opening the scoring with a strong end-to-end rush capped by a precise wrist shot over the glove. Later in the game, with under a minute remaining, he added another goal to bring the Remparts within one, though the comeback ultimately fell short in a 3-2 loss.

Dagenais recorded an assist in Game 5, continuing to generate offense despite another narrow 3-2 defeat. Facing elimination in Game 6, he delivered one of his most impactful performances of the series. He helped open the scoring by moving the puck to the point for a goal by defenseman Charlie Morrison. In the third period he moved the puck down low before finding space on a 4-on-3 power play, where he buried a one-timer over the glove to extend the lead and help force a winner-take-all Game 7.

Prospect Don Post Lottery Top 16 Mock Draft

If St. Louis walked away with Daxon Rudolph and Maddox Dagenais, they would be thrilled. Dagenais plays a heavy game and throws some of the best reverse hits in the class. He fits the Blues identity perfectly. Maddox Dagenais is a big forward who competes well and is extremely hard to push off pucks because he will reverse hit anyone. He has the offensive skillset and the all around game to be a really good player in the NHL. His father Pierre Dagenais played 142 games in the NHL with the Canadiens, Devils and Panthers.

Game Report – January 30th, 2026

#26 F, Maddox Dagenais Team: Quebec Remparts, QMJHLHeight/Weight: 6’4”, 196 lbsShoots: LeftDOB: March 27th, 2008 Overview: His ability to read plays and his strong net-front presence make him a very intriguing and trustworthy prospect who can play in any situation asked. This is due to his excellent strength at protecting the puck and being a menace around the net which allows him to be a lot more unpredictable with the puck and ultimately be a more creative. What is amazingly seen in Dagenais’ game however is his strong vision as he is excellent at knifing the puck through traffic from down low. Even though his passes may not always be the crispest, he understands the mindset of where his teammates are going to be. He could use some work in defensive reliability as there are occasions where will “reach” for the puck instead of “hunt” for the puck, but he really needs to work on his explosiveness so he could become a more intense player when it comes to his physicality due to his great size.

Weekly 2026 Draft Eligible Three Stars

Muskegon Lumberjacks captain Tynan Lawrence is back in action and is out to prove his billing as the top center prospect available in 2026. Maddox Dagenais got to show off his game for the many fans and scouts that flocked to Alberta for the Team CHL vs. USA Prospects Challenge before going back and helping his club team capture two big victories. Finally, Swedish center Alexander Command is drawing eyeballs to his play as one of the top draft-eligible players in his league.

Tynan Lawrence | C | Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL)

After impressing the hockey scouting community with 54 points in 56 games with Muskegon in his pre-draft year, Lawrence is starting to prove in 2026 why he deserves to have his name called on day one. The top-ranked center on Draft Prospects Hockey’s 2026 NHL Draft Rankings missed the start of the season while he was rehabbing an injury but has played in six games since returning to the lineup. The 2027 Boston University commit has nine points (six goals, three assists) in those contests.

Lawrence was all around the net this week in three USHL matches, firing a total of 22 shots. His signature performance came in the second half of a back-to-back with four points against the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

Eight minutes into the first period, Lawrence won an offensive zone draw that his linemate Victor Norringer sent on goal. The rebound came free and was pounced on by the Lumberjacks for Lawrence to pick up the secondary assist. With the game knotted at one goal each in the middle of the second period, Lawrence sped in on a two-on-one with 2025 Pittsburgh sixth-round pick Carter Sanderson and popped in the rebound to make it 2-1 for the Lumberjacks. The Shattuck St. Mary’s product potted two empty-net goals in the third to secure his first career USHL hat trick.

Maddox Dagenais | C | Quebec Remparts (QMJHL)

Quebec Remparts centerman Maddox Dagenais has the kind of size and a skillset to make him a very fascinating player to watch in the lead-up to the 2026 NHL Draft. The first overall pick in the 2025 QMJHL is 6-foot-4 and 196 pounds and has already tied his goal total (12) from his rookie season through 25 games this season.

Dagenais joined Team CHL this past week for the second annual CHL vs. USA Prospects Challenge and, despite starting on the fourth line, managed to contribute. Late in the second period with his team trailing by one, Dagenais fed a pass to a wide-open Alessandro Di Iorio, who buried a quick wrist shot to tie it up.

Returning to the Remparts for a pair of games after the showcase event, Dagenais potted three goals and an assist with six shots in two decisive wins.
