Gamzin is one of the best goalie prospects most dynasty managers aren’t talking about, and this season makes that harder to ignore. Thirty-nine KHL games, a .939 save percentage, and a 1.48 GAA for CSKA Moscow – where he has become the clear starter ahead of veteran Alexander Samonov and recent NHLer Spencer Martin. The bad news: he just signed an extension through 2028, so he’s in Russia for at least two more seasons. A fourth-round pick at 115th overall in 2024, the cost was low and the patient hold has real merit. A 6-3 goalie posting elite KHL numbers before his twenty-third birthday is not a name to drop from your roster.

After speculation, Gamzin has chosen to re-up with CSKA Moscow of the KHL for the next two seasons. He split time between the KHL and VHL in 2024-2025, and has had fantastic numbers in the pro league. across 39 games in his career, Gamzin sports a 16-12-7 record and a 2.10 GAA and .933 save percentage. These numbers are better than his VHL and MHL performance- 2.64/.914 and 2.42/.916 respectively.

Gamzin is reportedly closing on a two-year extension with CSKA Moscow in the KHL. Signing this extension would mean Gamzin has no plans to come to North America soon to play in the NHL or AHL. Remember, fellow Russian goaltenders Ilya Sorokin and Igor Shesterkin did not leave the KHL to play in the NHL until they were 25.

The New York Islanders drafted Gamzin in the fourth round (115th overall) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft.

The 6-3 , 174 netminder has room to fill out his frame, and his numbers at all three Russian levels speak for themselves. In a league that would allow you to stash a goalie prospect for two seasons before being certain on his future, there aren’t many better swings than the athletic 22 year old netminder.
