PNHLe

PNHLe data is not available for this prospect yet.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.

NHL Certainty
—
—
Odds of becoming a full-time NHL player (10.0 = 100%). Draft guideline is a starting point and should rise as the prospect proves himself.
Upside
—

Best-case offensive upside (peak season points potential). Forwards: 8.0 ≈ 80 points. Defense and goalie scales differ.

DRAFTPRO – 2024 7-ROUND CONTRIBUTOR MOCK DRAFT

54. New York Islanders (From CHI/LAK) – Maxim Massé, RW, Chicoutimi Saguenéens (QMJHL) SUMMARY: Masse is a skilled forward who can elevate the game of others around him and seeing the example of players like Brock Nelson or Anders Lee will certainly help round out his effort level. He is a player that will at times draw fans out of their seats and be able to be an offensive weapon for the Islanders. He has an excellent shot and it is very accurate. He is an excellent skater and could be a potential middle six forward in a few years for the NY Islanders. – Andy Miller

MY CHL TPG JOURNEY

After the on-ice testing and practice was completed for Team Red, interviews started to come along. The true of this aspect was that I was quite nervous and didn’t know what to expect due to my first-time taking action at a worldwide event. The interviews that I completed for DraftPro for Team Red were Zayne Parekh, Ryerson Leenders, Andrew Basha and Sam Dickinson but the one that he felt most proud of was his interview with Maxim Massé. The reason being is that I truly felt he can show his versatility with connecting with players due to me being bilingual in English and French. Before the interview, I asked Max that if he wanted to do it in French, he can. Max was surprised with my versatility in speaking both languages. After the interview with Zayne Parekh, Zayne funny enough actually remembered me from and spoke to each other for a short period of time asking what he was doing here which both had quite a chuckle with one another. After the Dickinson interview, I had an amazing outside discussion with Sam about the whole event. As receptive as he is, Sam was quite surprised with the network that I had made throughout the few years, as well as being good friends with two of Sam’s teammates from the Hlinka Gretzky Cup (One of them mentioned in a moment).

2024 CHL KUBOTA TOP PROSPECTS GAME REVIEW

In this article, we will be reviewing players from this event from all leagues and positions. From the QMJHL, Maxim Massé and Raoul Boilard have truly risen to the occasion physically and mentally. From the OHL, rising stars Liam Greentree, Beckett Sennecke, Sam Dickinson, Zayne Parekh, as well as Henry Mews have truly displayed their reasons why they deserve top be 1st round draft picks. From the WHL, the formidable faces Tij Iginla, Berkly Catton, Charlie Elick, and many more from the CHL will be highlighted due to their impressive display. Starting from the QMJHL, we have Chicoutimi star forward Maxim Massé. The goal scoring power-forward is on pace to have a 30-goal season while having a physical net-front presence. When it came to the on-ice testing, even though he may have not had the most outstanding performance, he truly displayed his acceleration in the 30M Forward Skate by earning himself 3rd place with a time of 4.063 seconds. This test truly correlated to him having excellent long strides which created maximum acceleration. When it came to his performance for Team Red, he truly showed why he truly can be havoc in front of the net for Team White’s Carter George and Dawson Cowan. Even though he did not score, he truly showcased his lethal and heavy shot as he made the goaltenders make very difficult saves. What he will need to work on is his stickwork as he did take a tripping penalty in which that has been a major theme of his season. Even though there are some inconsistencies in his defensive game, NHL teams should not look away to what he brings offensively and physically.

2024 NHL ENTRY DRAFT – DRAFTPRO’S FIRST GLANCE AT THE QMJHL

But there is still one more player to review, and that is the Chicoutimi Saguenéens’ Maxim Massé. The QMJHL rookie of the year, offensive rookie of the year, the CHL rookie of the year, and a gold medal winner for team Canada at the Hlinka-Gretzky, Maxim Massé is all sorts of hyped as he continues to impress. Placing second on his team for scoring, only being beat out by the Seattle Kraken draft pick Andrei Loshko. Massé finished the year with 29 goals, 33 assists, for 62 points. That’s the highest point total so far on this list, and only one of the reasons that make’s Massé such an intriguing prospect.

“highly skilled forward with a great shot and release. Maxim is ready to lead the charge of QMJHL draft eligibles this year as well as lead an exciting young Chicoutimi team to playoff success.” Said Seth Silver, who ranked Massé #1 for draft eligible Q players.

Christian B-Cote also praised Massé, adding: “He’s very quick and possesses a deceptive wrist shot from close. He’s absolutely lethal when he’s ON.”

With a disappointing playoff performance last year, Chicoutimi fans are excited to see where Massé is going to lead them. With Loshko gone, it is likely Massé will lead Chicoutimi in points and to another playoff run, baring any potential injuries. Massé was awarded the ‘A’ for his team as well, only solidifying the confidence and trust coaches and management have for the 17-year-old.

Players like Massé prove that the Q still has a lot to offer. And while this year looks similarly slow like last year, especially when comparing to the OHL and WHL. Players like Maxim Massé and Justin Poirier are strong candidates for first round picks, and other players such as Gabe Smith, Alexis Michaud, and Félix Michaud all have qualities that make them great hockey players, and one shouldn’t sleep on either name listed above. And in conclusion, the QMJHL should never be passed over, and could be the source of some surprising sleeper picks as the year continues.
