Projected potential

Bio

Thanks to his quick-witted, athletic game, has a strong base to build on as a potential professional goalie.

PNHLe

PNHLe data is not available for this prospect yet.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.

Scouting Feed

Medvedev signed a three-year entry-level contract on July 10, 2025. The youngest goaltender in the 2025 NHL Draft played in 34 games for the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during the 2024-25 season and had a 22-8-2 record with a 2.79 GAA and a .912 SV%, playing behind overage goalie Austin Elliot, who was first in OHL SV%. Medvedev is already adapting to the North American game, having played in Canada since the 2022-23 season, which will help eliminate the common question that comes with drafting a goaltender from Russia: “How long will it take for him to arrive?” Medvedev will get the opportunity to manage a full workload as the starting goaltender for the London Knights during the 2025-26 season. However, he is still a long-term project; Medvedev will be afforded the proper time to develop through the Vancouver Canucks organization. As the long-term contracts of both Thatcher Demko (three years) and Kevin Lankinen (five years) start this season, when they expire, Medvedev should be ready to step into the NHL and provide immediate fantasy value. Draft him in your 2025 dynasty league rookie drafts and stash him on your roster until he is NHL-ready.

Selected 47th overall, Alexei Medvedev is now a member of the Vancouver Canucks.

Final Rankings – Medvedev is a calm, methodical goalie who relies on strong positioning and composure rather than reflexes. Though prone to dropping into the butterfly too quickly, effective puck tracking, size, and confidence make him a promising prospect that serves as a bit of a contrast to the rest of the goaltending class.—
