Projected potential

Bio

Gajan does very well at utilizing this size and positioning effectively to limit shooting options. He is well known for his athleticism and remarkable ability to execute pad saves or toe kicks.

PNHLe

PNHLe data is not available for this prospect yet.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.

Best-case offensive upside (peak season points potential). Forwards: 8.0 ≈ 80 points. Defense and goalie scales differ.

Scouting Feed

The Chicago Blackhawks signed Adam Gajan to a two-year entry level-contract through 2027-28. The 35th overall pick in the 2023 draft had a .908 save percentage through 33 games for Minnesota Duluth in 2025-26, and will likely see a fair amount of games in the AHL in 2026-27. Gajan also served as the third string goalie for Slovakia at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan but did not play in any games. With Spencer Knight in the starting role for the Blackhawks, and Drew Commesso looking ready for backup duties at the NHL level, fantasy managers should not be surprised to see Gajan spend a majority of his entry-level contract in the AHL.

Adam Gajan’s first year at Minnesota-Duluth did not go according to plan. A late-November ankle injury kept him out for over two months, limiting him to just 21 games and throwing off any chance of building real momentum. His 3.33 GAA and .885 save percentage does not jump off the page, but context matters, he was coming off a long layoff, and the team in front of him had its own issues defensively. Gajan’s raw athleticism still stands out, though early in the season he was chasing the play too often and struggled with positioning. As the season wore on, there were glimpses of him settling down and letting the game come to him. This was by not means the breakout some were hoping for, but it was a necessary development year. A full, healthy season in 2025–26 should offer a clearer read on his long-term trajectory.

Gajan was selected 35 th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2023 NHL Draft. While his aggressive style can occasionally lead to being out of position, it also proves beneficial at times. His overall ability to read and anticipate plays is generally solid, although he must refine his control of slides and aggression against stronger opponents. Gajan exhibits significant potential for a professional career within the NHL.
