Maxon Vig’s development in the USHS program led to some alluring results in the USHL, where he put up 10 goals and 32 points in 62 games. While he isn’t known for his offensive upside, there’s plenty of opportunity for him to develop that side with Bemidji State University of the NCAA. Vig fits the role that the Montreal Canadiens are looking for, particularly in his leadership qualities and ability to slow down the pace to a grinding halt. Kent Hughes wants a bigger and mobile blue line that can shut down the neutral zone, much like Florida has done in the past two playoff runs, and Vig fits that mould. If he can get his feet moving and work on his skating in the NCAA, he’ll have a shot, but at this point, Vig is a long-term project. –
