On May 30, 2025, the Utah Mammoth signed Smith to a three-year, entry-level contract. The 18-year-old fourth-round pick (103rd overall) in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft by the Utah Mammoth has the potential to develop into a strong third-line forward. His combination of size, strength, and work ethic will go a long way in making him an NHL regular; however, his offensive ability and skating are still works in progress and will need to improve before he turns pro. There is the potential for Smith to become a multi-category fantasy threat; he will immediately have value in leagues that value hits and PIMs once in the NHL.
