Pelevin continues to play well defensively in the VHL, and even got two games at the KHL level in 2024-25. While his defensive habits are encouraging for a 21 year old, he’s likely not going to have much fantasy relevance even if he makes it to the AHL in the next few years. His NHL probability is very limited and the best case scenario would see him become a seventh defenseman at some point. Pelevin is not progressing to higher levels fast enough and isn’t putting up many points at these lower levels. This suggests he will notbe able to transition from his own end at the speed the NHL requires, making his NHL probability limited to a seventh defenseman in the best case scenario.

Pelevin’s first full season came to an end as Zauralie Kurgan lost in the VHL playoffs. His production rate was encouraging, posting five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 55 games, but more interesting was his plus 21. This is not the greatest way to judge a prospect, but Pelevin plays a more shutdown-type role for Kurgan, so having such a positive year on the defensive end is encouraging to see for the 19-year old. Pelevin’s contract is set to expire at the end of this current KHL season, but I do not foresee him coming to North America any time soon, so he’s still a good few years away from potentially seeing an NHL time.
