Banger leagues, this one is for you! With 260 penalty minutes in just 134 regular-season games, Foster hits hard, plays hard, and he is going to make sure everyone on the ice fears him. Don’t be too hasty to write him off as an enforcer that can play in today’s game. Foster showcased skills and flashes that he can be an effective player. He goes out of his way to hit, isn’t afraid to fight, and often instigates by being a general pest. As the season went on, he grew in his abilities to use his body for more than checking, shielding, and leaning effectively when carrying the puck. Foster is a very straightforward player; he wants to go to the front of the net and will attempt to go through anyone in his way. There came instances where he deceived the defense with his straightforward nature, as when the defense commits to his drive, he cuts and slips a pass into the slot. Foster’s rather poor handling and subpar acceleration currently limit him. His current level is still far from the NHL, but he did improve as the year went on, and that improvement is what the Lightning are banking on. Foster has the traits to become a decent bottom-six, power-forward, and his physicality and pest-like nature should aid him, as all teams want one or two guys like that in the lineup.
