Mclaughlin completed his third campaign in the NCAA, playing 38 games from the University of North Dakota. He scored five goals and added 25 assists, seeing a slight step back from the 13 goals he scored last season. He has a knack for staying out of the penalty box, as the 22 year old has just 24 penalty minutes in 114 NCAA games.

Coming off an impressive USHL campaign with Sioux City, McLaughlin recorded 28 goals and 44 assists in 62 regular-season games, leading his team in points and assists. Although he failed to tally a postseason goal, McLaughlin helped the Musketeers capture the Clark Cup over Madison. The Flyers have extended an ELC offer to McLaughlin, making him eligible for reassignment to a Canadian major junior team next season. If he elects not to sign the contract, McLaughlin will play next season in the NCAA for the University of North Dakota. Either way, the 2021 seventh-round pick is still a few years away from turning pro.

He will likely round out his career in the NCAA in one or two more seasons, and look to graduate to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL, but at present he isn’t tracking to be a player we will need to keep an eye on for fantasy purposes.
