Slukynsky signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings in April 2026. His deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $1.07M and runs through the 2028-29 season.

Looking at the Hammer’s NCAA stats this season, they appear a little underwhelming compared to his rookie season in 2024-25. However, there is an important observation to be made. During the first half of the NCAA season, Hammer was sporting a sub .900 save percentage, but then continuously improved the rest of the season to finish with a .915 save percentage. This shows he was able to re-focus during the season, something that goalies in the NHL must do regularly after bad stretches. Compounding that mental strength is the fact he started all 39 of Western Michigan’s games in 2025-26 games, so his coach never lost confidence in him. An impressive sign of trust in such a young netminder that will surely carry over to the AHL over the next few seasons.

An NCAA rookie in 2024-2025, Hampton Slukynsky joined his big brother Grant at Western Michigan University, and posted a 19-5-1 record to go along with a 1.90 GAA and .922 save percentage. His GAA put him fourth in the NCAA among goalies with 20 games or more under their belt and 13th by save percentage. Smallish by NHL goalie standards at just 6-1, Slukynsky uses his raw athleticism and reflexes to challenge shooters. Goalies are a crapshoot by nature, and it will remain to be seen if his style can overcome his size at the NHL level, but his performance at this stage in his career is undeniable. He is worth stashing in all dynasty leagues, but needs to be given time to develop with the translatability of his game to the next level kept in mind.

In his first season at Western Michigan University, Slukynsky has played in 12 games and has a 7-4-1 record with a 1.57 GAA and .942 SV%.
