Potentiel projeté

Bio

A strong two-way defenseman with good skating and mobility with an accurate shot. Needs to show improvement defensively at the next level but has the potential to be a second-pairing, puck-moving defenseman with power play duties.

Fegaras keeps climbing one rung a year. His junior season at Cornell produced career highs across the board: 21 points (5-16-21) and a plus-13 while appearing in all 34 games, up from 14 points as a sophomore and seven as a freshman. The 2022 third-rounder has now doubled or nearly doubled his output in consecutive seasons, and the growth is coming the right way, through more trusted minutes and more touches rather than power-play inflation. His game remains built on the traits that made him a third-round pick: excellent mobility for 6-2 and 212 pounds, pace-pushing breakouts, and the offensive instincts to attack downhill and open passing lanes. The defensive consistency questions that followed him into college have quieted as the responsibility has grown. Dallas holds his rights through an Aug. 15, 2027 sign-by date, so his senior season becomes the decision year, and the organization’s blue-line pipeline thinned this spring with Kolyachonok’s departure. The fantasy file stays dormant for now. The scenario worth tracking is a big senior year at Cornell followed by a spring 2027 signing, the same college-free-agent-style path Anderson and Minnetian just took into Cedar Park.

Fegaras will play his third season at Cornell University during the 2025-26 season and will look to continue developing his all-around game and become more consistent defensively. His offense doubled from year one to year two at Cornell, from seven points (three goals and four assists) during the 2023-24 campaign to 14 points (one goal and 13 assists) in 2024-25, when he played three fewer games than the season prior. His offensive IQ and ability to control the game and play with pace from the backend are his greatest assets, and he has excellent speed in his game. There are parts of Fegaras that can transition well to a professional level, but he is a long way from fantasy relevance and does not need to be rostered.

The Dallas Stars drafted Fegaras in the third round (83rd overall) in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
