Koromyslov signed a two-year entry-level contract with the St. Louis Blues in April 2026. His deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $1.01M and runs through the 2027-28 season. The 22-year-old defenseman recorded 17 points in 61 games for Traktor Chelyabinsk (KHL) before adding one point in six-game postseason run for the Russian hockey team. Koromyslov will have the opportunity to prove himself in a rebuilding St. Louis organization this summer, but he would benefit from a full season in the AHL to get used to the smaller ice surface in North America.
Koromyslov wore three jerseys in 2024-2025, skating 60 games between Lada Togliatti, SKA St Petersburg and Traktor Chelyabinsk of the KHL. He scored three goals and added 10 assists in that time. He has the tools to become a useful two-way defenseman, and at 6-5 has NHL size. He saw plenty of ice time with Lada Togliatti and SKA St Petersburg, but saw plenty of single digit ice time after moving to Traktor at the end of the season. St Louis Blues fans and fantasy managers alike will hope he gets more deployment in the coming season so as to continue his development.
Koromyslov was the most used player on his team in the first two games of the season. In a country that prioritizes winning over player development, the young defenseman is getting a lot of ice time, averaging 20:43. This is an encouraging sign for his future progress. August 2023 – For the second season in a row, Koromyslov played in all three levels of Russian hockey. The difference between last season and the year before, his he played almost all year in the KHL with St. Petersburg. Despite playing 29 games with his team, the young defender only managed to score two points. Koromyslov had limited opportunities to put points on the board with an average ice time of 9:10. The fact that he is playing games in the KHL at only 19-years-old is an impressive achievement. Cedrick Blais-Turcotte
Koromyslov was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the fourth round, 120th overall. He split time in the SKA St. Petersburg system playing in the KHL, VHL, and MHL. In the MHL he played in 42 games scoring four goals and adding 15 assists for 19 points. He ranked 12th in points per game amongst U-19 defenders (who played 40 or more games) and 21st in raw point totals. At the junior level he played a big role, some nights logging well over 20 minutes. At the VHL level he played two games, recording a single assist and in the KHL, he dressed for six games and was held off the scoresheet. This shouldn’t be a knock however as only seven total U-19 defencemen played a single game at the KHL level. Next year, Koromyslov should look to cement himself in a full-time role in the VHL. On top of that, he will need to make strides on both the offensive and defensive side of the ice to clean-up his game. He could also add some size to his large 6-3 frame to make himself more physically dominant as he tries to progress up the professional ranks.
