Potentiel projeté

Bio

A big technical goaltender who relies on his size to cover the net.

PNHLe

Ollas is a towering netminder, 6-8 and 238 lbs, who split time during the 2024-25 with Bloomington and Worcester in the ECHL. He was called up to Hartford of the AHL on a couple of occasions, but did not get into any game action with the Wolf Pack. The 23-year-old Swede appeared in 33 games last season, posting a 12-16-3 record and a sub-.900 save percentage. The crease is getting a bit crowded in the Rangers’ prospect pool, and Ollas will need a strong regular season starting this upcoming Fall to keep himself relevant in New York’s prospect pipeline. He will be an RFA at the end of the 2025-26 season.

Ollas, the huge Swede, has two years remaining on his entry-level contract with the Rangers before becoming a restricted free agent following the 2025-26 season. The netminder appeared in one game at the end of the 2023-24 season with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL after wrapping up his collegiate career at Merrimack College. In 21 games with Merrimack this past season, Ollas posted a 2.84 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. Although the crease is a bit crowded in Hartford, with veteran Louis Domingue and prospect Dylan Garand on the roster, Ollas will hope to see some action with the Wolf Pack. However, Ollas may be relegated to ECHL play to get him enough game action.

Ollas completed his second season with Merrimack College in 2022-23, posting a 10-9-0 record and five shutouts, with a 2.31 GAA and a .915 save percentage in 21 games played. This represented a slight dip from his 2021-22 campaign with Merrimack, where he had a 2.24 GAA and a .920 save percentage in 18 games, with zero shutouts. The big Swede will return for his third season with the Warriors, hoping to continue to sharpen his gam, with an aim toward earning himself an NHL contract with the Rangers when he leaves the NCAA.

Ollas, the gigantic 6-foot-8 goalie, unsigned by the Rangers, is entering his second season with Merrimack of the NCAA. The seventh-round pick in 2020 put up some nice statistics during his first year of NCAA hockey, to the tune of a 2.24 GAA and a .920 save percentage. The Rangers, after targeting Ollas for his large frame and potential, will be patient with their netminder, as he continues to hone his craft in the hopes of earning an NHL contract in 2024, or perhaps next summer if he has a great second college campaign.

The New York Rangers selected Ollas in the seventh-round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Ollas was the second goalie selected by the Rangers in the 2020 draft. He’s known to be a highly technical goaltender who can sometimes rely on his 6-8 frame to cover the entirety of the net.
