Potentiel projeté

Bio

A good skater who possesses a wicked shot. Savoie seems to have the puck on a string and he is always looking to attack offensively.

PNHLe

Savioie most recently played in the ECHL for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits after only playing five games in Finland with TPS in Liiga during the 2024-25 season. With the Swap Rabbits, he played 57 games and produced 47 points (24 goals and 23 assists), not bad offensive production, but it is the ECHL, and the former fourth-round pick (100th overall) in the 2020 NHL Draft by the Edmonton Oilers has a long way to go to reach the NHL. You do not need to worry about rostering him in any fantasy league you are in.

On May 11th, the Oilers signed Savoie to a three-year entry-level contract. The signing comes after a very impressive season at the University of Denver in which the talented goalscorer played a pivotal role in helping his team win the NCAA National Championship. Savoie was nominated for the Hobey Baker trophy, as he led his team in goals with 23 (fourth in the NCAA) and was tied for second in points with 45 (sixth in the NCAA). After his season with the University of Denver was completed, Savoie suited up for two games with Edmonton’s farm team, the Bakersfield Condors, where he recorded two penalty minutes. It is expected that the talented finisher will spend most if not all of this season with Bakersfield where he will need to fine-tune some of the aspects of his game away from creating offence to become more well-rounded. Going forward, it is too early to predict what, if any, impact Savoie could have in the NHL down the road but if his game translates well to the pro level he could find himself in a goal-scoring role in Edmonton in the future.

Just like with Dylan Holloway, nobody could have asked for a better season from Savoie. On March eighth, it was announced that the young winger was a unanimous choice for the NCHC All-Rookie Team. So, how impressive were his 12 goals and 19 points in 22 games? Well, he led all rookies in goals, power-play goals (six), game-winning goals (three) and he finished second in rookie points behind Veeti Miettinen. Savoie also led all rookies in shots with 77. Not a bad first season in the NCAA for Edmonton’s 2020 fourth-round pick. Yes, the goal-scoring winger can leave a lot to be desired, aside from offence but he came into the NCAA as a guy that can score goals and that is exactly what he did. Time will tell if he can become more well-rounded while at the University of Denver.

Savoie was drafted 100th overall by the Oilers. Savoie is expected to spend at least two years in college before turning pro.

50 goals in 50 games. That is the kind of production Carter Savoie has been putting up in the AJHL. He has been abusing the Junior A league with his combination of speed and strength. The University of Denver commit has a dangerous shot that he uses off the rush quite often. He does a good job of finding space around the net and beating goalies with regularity. His playmaking isn’t outstanding but he shows the ability to make passes all over the offensive zone. He will likely be a bit of a long-term prospect, likely needing a couple of season in the NCAA before being ready to take the step to the pro ranks. He is widely regarded as a late first or early second-round selection for the upcoming draft in June.

Carter is the older brother of 2022 top-three prospect Matthew Savoie and he is quite a good player in his own right. He may not possess the same elite upside but the elder brother is a very strong offensive player. He plays at the Junior A level so that he can honour his commitment to the University of Denver in 2020-21 but he is dominating the AJHL. Finishing as the AJHL Rookie of the Year, he was fifth in league scoring with 73 points. He seems to have improved his skating over the summer, adding a step to his already dangerous offensive arsenal. His release is heavy and accurate making him dangerous from anywhere in the offensive zone. He battles for the puck and has an innate ability to pull the puck out a pile. He does an effective job of getting to the dangerous areas of the ice. His playmaking ability is underrated as he sees the ice quite well and has the patience to allow his teammates to get into high danger positions. Carter Savoie will be expected to put up gaudy numbers in the AJHL this upcoming season, possibly in the 1.75-2.00 points-per-game range. –
