Tyus Sparks has been a hard worker for the Vancouver Giants this season, a consistently engaging player who isn’t afraid of being aggressive and a fighter if he needs to be. Sparks has a highly likable style of play, on offense being a highly aware player who does a good job finding the right place to get scoring opportunities, and has a strong shooting release. A very strong skater, Sparks does well moving through the ice and has good speed. Sparks can stand to be more of a playmaker but has done well moving the puck early this season. The big drawback to Sparks is his size at 5’11. Sparks hasn’t played consistently on one line throughout the season, bouncing around the Giants top-nine. It’s a surprise he isn’t featured on their penalty kill given his ability to be a workhorse. As a smaller player, Sparks is going to have to convert more of his chances to actual production in order to prove to NHL teams his ability to be a pro. Sparks’ intensity and hustle could still be enough to give him a shot in the later rounds at least.
