Scouting Feed

Chris Babos  - DobberProspectsMarch 2026

Genborg signed a three-year entry level contract with the Detroit Red Wings on March 15. The 18-year-old forward is expected to begin his development with the AHL’s Grand Rapid Griffins for his first season action in North America. Gemborg totaled 25 points in 43 games in the SHL, the highest level of hockey in Sweden, during the 2025-26 season. A transition to North America was the next logical step for the Swedish teenager.

DobberProspectsAugust 2025

Genborg demonstrates modern day flashes of a power-forward but also takes pride in his 200-foot game. At 6-2 and weighing in at around 205 pounds, he uses his body to his advantage whether it’s on the forecheck or as a net-front presence. Most of his goals this year came from the slot or directly in front of the net. On powerplays, he establishes himself to screen goalies but also kicks out to the bumper position as an option. I had a chance to watch him play last week at the World Junior Summer Showcase and he is as advertised. Genborg had a great tournament. He made his presence felt by throwing massive hits and contributed to the scoresheet as well. I saw him make very good defensive plays by getting his stick in lanes to disrupt cycles and backchecking hard to not allow any odd-man opportunities.

Emmanuel Alforque - DobberProspects

Genborg started the year at the J20 junior level in Sweden but after dominating and scoring over a point-per-game, he quickly got called up to play in the SHL. There, his totals were not the best contributing only two goals in 28 games but he adapted well and didn’t look out of place. He’s returning to the SHL next season where he could gain some confidence and I expect his numbers to increase significantly. With his size, skill and defensive game, I could see Genborg blossom into a long-term middle-six forward at the NHL level.

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspectsJune 2025

Selected at forty-fourth overall, Eddie Genborg is now a member of the Detroit Red Wings .

Ethan Lindley - DobberProspects

Final Rankings – A physical forward with a nasty edge, Genborg doesn’t just seek to take the puck away from his opponents: he intends to do it while inflicting as much pain as possible. He lives in front of the net and uses his strength and power to wreak havoc.—

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
