Firkus completed his AHL rookie campaign with 15 goals and 21 assists in 69 games. The transition to pro hockey is a big one, even for someone like Firkus who dominated against similar aged peers in Junior the year prior. His role and responsibility will grow in Coachella Valley, and managers will be able to get better looks at his NHL proximity with his growth. If the Firkus holder in your leagues isn’t a die-hard investor, you could use the fact he came into the AHL like a lamb after leaving the WHL like a lion as an entry point to stash him on your team. Unlikely to steal a job full time in training camp this year, he should be wearing the Firebird on his chest in 2025-2026.

Scouting Feed
Firkus’s 61 goals and 65 assists (126 points) in 63 games led the WHL last year, one of several entrances in the top-five junior scorers for the Kraken.
If the buy-low window on Firkus hasn’t slammed shut in your league yet, take quick and full advantage, as it won’t be open for long. Firkus is on an absolute heater this season, with 40 goals and 47 assists in 87 games. For context, last season, he had 40 goals and 48 assists in 66 games for the entire season. Not only is he poised to smash his personal best, but he also sits atop the WHL leaderboard for points, and though he’s third in goals, the two players ahead of him have played at least five more games. Firkus will likely be a Firebird next season and will show his stuff in camp. Acquire and stash him now before it’s too late.
Firkus is putting in another strong season in the WHL, leading the Moose Jaw Warriors in scoring with 73 points in 59 games. He could soon see some time with Coachella Valley (AHL) and find himself not far from some NHL ice time in short order. He is still a bit on the smaller side and will need to adjust to playing in the professional ranks, but with arguably the best shot in his draft class, Seattle has quite an exciting weapon in their arsenal if they develop him properly.
The Seattle Kraken have selected Firkus in the second round of the 2022 NHL Draft, 35th overall.
