Summary

Development

Bio

Sharp-shooting winger with strong off-puck positioning, a heavy release, and a decent forechecking game. Relatively one-dimensional, but could round out his game to become a middle-six trigger man.

Scouting Feed

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspectsOctober 2024

Rehkopf continued his exponential growth in the OHL in 2023-2024, adding 36 points (52-43-95) to his previous year’s total. His 52 goals were second in the league, behind the leader by six goals in eight fewer games. Rehkopf’s an absolute sniper, and if his skills can translate to the pro game, he could be a very solid fantasy asset. If he replicates or even builds on his success this season, the buy-low window will have slammed shut. If he’s on your waiver wire in a deep enough league, park him on your farm and watch his progression.

Pat Quinn - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Rehkopf was selected 50th overall by the Kraken.

DobberProspectsJune 2023

Rehkopf has plied his trade with the Kitchener Rangers in the OHL this season, putting together a solid 30-goal, 59-point campaign in 60 regular-season games, as well as six points in nine playoff games for a middling squad.

Hadi Kalakeche - DobberProspects

Although he is a great off-puck mover with a high-end release and decent forechecking, Rehkopf’s playmaking lacks inventiveness and creativity, and his skating is average at best. Along the boards, he fights well for pucks, combining great technique and a heavy frame to pry defenders off of pucks and fight them off once he has it. There is some refinement needed in Rehkopf’s case, but if his skill set is rounded out, he has the potential to be a middle-six goal-scoring winger who can hold his own on dump-ins. Rehkopf will likely see his name called at the end of the second round or somewhere in the third.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
