Brett Harrison was acquired by the Philadelphia Flyers (along with Jackson Edward) at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline in exchange for Alexis Gendron and Massimo Rizzo. The 22-year-old adds some much needed depth in the Flyers pipeline, but he’ll have plenty of competition for a job in a prospect system featuring Jett Luchanko and Jack Berglund. Harrison registered 17 points in 46 games with the Providence Bruins prior to the swap and has scored twice in four games for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. As a restricted free agent at the end of the season, the Flyers will have the option to bring him back into the fold for the 2026-27 season (and beyond).

Harrison did not improve on his point totals in 2024-25, so you could interpret that his progression has stalled. However, as pointed out in our last update, the logjam in Providence is the most likely culprit of this lack of point increase, not his skill set. Unless the Bruins move up players like Minten and Farinacci to the big club in 2025-26, Harrison most likely won’t get much opportunity in Providence to put up more points. At this rate, he’s likely a few years away from his first NHL game and projecting as a bottom six player in the best case scenario.

Harrison had a good season in Providence, with 14 points in 47 games. Although his points do not seem like much, he focused on improving his weaknesses, and it was an important step for him to take as he now has a more pro game and is more reliable defensively. All signs point to him starting this season in Providence, and we expect him to have a decent points increase as he will receive more ice time and a more prominent role. Although his overall game could give him a chance to make the NHL for a few games at the end of this season, there is a log jam in front of him in the forward position, and many other young talents are also pushing to make the roster. Boston will have a good look at him during rookie camp, training camp, and maybe even for a few preseason games.

Harrison had another great year in the OHL, putting up 69 points in 57 games, finding most of his success once he went to Windsor, with 18 goals and 18 assists in 30 games. He was robbed of a run to the Memorial Cup, as his Windsor team was upset in the first round by the eight-seed Kitchener Rangers. If there was a silver lining, Harrison has now joined the Providence Bruins for the playoff run, and it looks like he will be a part of the lineup as he played in his first career pro game at the end of the season, registering an assist. Last season, Harrison joined Providence for their playoff run on an Amateur Tryout Agreement but did not get any game action. Harrison will probably find a permanent home in Providence next season as he tries to become a full-time member of the Bruins.
