Catton completed his third full WHL season with the Spokane Chiefs with an emphatic 109 points in 57 games. His 1.91 points-per-game pace places him 5th among 18 year olds or younger since 2009. Catton won’t be rushed along with the emerging reliability of Shane Wright and incumbent Matty Beniers, but he has shown he has little left to prove in Junior. One can envision a future where Catton is the top-line option, and Beniers takes the second line pivot role.

Summary
Bio
Catton stands out for his abundant dynamism, skill, and creativity, but his defensive engagement will need to take a few steps before he can make the jump to pro hockey.
PNHLe
Scouting Feed
The Coachella Valley Firebirds appear ready to welcome him with open arms.
Catton has been on a tear in his D+1 year, currently sitting fourth in the WHL in points per game with a 1.87 clip. This pace improves upon last year’s number where he went 54-62-116 in 68 games played, and would put him in the top 25 performances in the WHL in over a decade. His goal totals have diminished slightly, and he is picking up more assists than last year, but a player who can diversify his offensive game and find a way to get on the scoreboard regardless bodes well for our fantasy teams. Catton’s stock continues to rise, and he’s a must own.
Catton had himself a fantastic draft year, finishing fourth in WHL scoring with 116 points, and finishing as one of two Kraken prospects (Jagger Firkus being the other) to be in the top three for goals. Catton’s playmaking skills are his hallmark, but his goal scoring is not to be denied. He will return to the WHL for the 2024-2025 season, and expect him to build upon his gaudy totals this year.
Catton was selected 8th overall for the Kraken.
