Scouting Feed

Andrew Epps - DobberProspectsSeptember 2026

Jamsen’s second AHL season with the Ontario Reign was a clear step forward. His 28 points in 59 games more than doubled his rookie output (11 points in 36 games), and the plus-4 rating replaced the minus-eight from his first year on North American ice. The 6-2, 157-pound frame is still remarkably light for a player his height, and adding strength remains the primary development need. His Liiga pedigree is real: 63 points in 113 career Liiga games with Pelicans, including a 32-point campaign in 2022-23 that earned a Liiga Silver Medal. The Kings signed him to an extension in June 2026, which signals the organization sees continued upside. He ranked 29th in the Kings’ prospect pool in fan surveys, placing him in the bottom tier, but the HFBoards scouting thread noted favorable habits: he is first on the forecheck and plays with an edge despite the weight. At 24, the NHL window is narrowing, but the AHL trend line is positive. Fantasy relevance is limited to the deepest dynasty formats. He projects as a fringe NHL call-up who could fill a fourth-line role if the scoring continues to grow. The weight needs to come, or the skill will not survive at the next level.

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspectsJune 2025

Jamsen completed his AHL rookie season with seven goals, four assists for 11 points in 36 games. He had limited deployment, including special teams opportunity, but the fact that the 7th round pick has made his was to North America and has a signed ELC with Los Angeles, his proximity to the NHL is higher than some of the other names drafted in his range.

Sean Crocker - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Jamsen dominated the U20 Finnish league for two seasons, earning himself a full-time role with the Lahti Pelicans of the Liiga, Finland’s top professional league. Putting up a strong 32 points in 43 games, including 12 goals, Jamsen showed he is ready to compete with men on the highest tier. He recently signed a two-year extension with his club, ensuring he will continue his development in Finland. The 2020 seventh-round pick has become a prospect of interest for the Kings organization and could look to make the jump to North America once his extension expires. But until then, the best case scenario remains a linear improvement on the new highs he established this season to set himself up to be on the shortlist for a callup to the NHL once he takes that next step.

Sean Crocker - DobberProspectsJune 2022

Plenty of scouts had Jamsen going undrafted in 2020, but after putting up 47 points in 24 games for the Lahti Pelicans U-18 team of SM-Sarja, the Kings decided to take a chance on his upside in round seven. Jamsen has since moved up through the ranks, dominating the Finnish U-20 league. This earned him a look in the Liiga this past season where he added six points in 34 games, as well as eight points in seven games in the Mestis, Finland’s second division of pro hockey. Jamsen is a skilled winger with size and a lethal shot, who shows decent scoring upside. He still needs to fill out his 6-2 frame, but at 19-years-old, he has plenty of time to mature physically. Jamsen will return to the Pelicans in 2022-23 and can be expected to take another step in his development as he continues to grow his overall game.

Julian Mongillo - DobberProspectsOctober 2020

At only 18 years old Aatu Jamsen is a very crafty winger with raw talent that needs to be refined. He has a lot of work to do to hone and develop his skills. He is off to a great start this season with 23 points in 11 games played for the Pelican U20 team in Finland.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
