Scouting Feed

Ioan Gheordanescu  - DobberProspectsMarch 2026

The 2025-26 AHL season has seen Heidt register 21 points in 61 games so far. The Iowa Wild have been a very low scoring team this season, so it is not much of a surprise to see Heidt struggle offensively as a rookie. With that said, there is a bigger concern which is his defensive play. He currently sports a minus 17 plus minus differential which is the third worst on the team. He will not get a call up to the NHL with that kind of defensive statistics, so he will know exactly what to focus on during the off-season before the 2026-27 AHL season starts. Dynasty managers should keep holding Heidt if they currently own him, and others could potentially buy low on him as he does have the offensive potential to make it to the NHL in the next three years.

DobberProspectsJune 2025

Heidt captained the Prince George Cougars of the WHL in likely his final WHL season, seeing a brief call up, but no games, to the Iowa Wild of the AHL. He scored 31 goals and added 59 assists and 39 penalty minutes in his penultimate campaign.

DobberProspects

His 117 points were good enough for 3rd overall in the WHL 2023 2024, and though the outright offensive numbers soften a little in 2025, Heidt is ready to take his talents to the professional ranks.

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspects

He is still less-owned than he should be in fantasy leagues, and would be a wise pluck in drafts this summer when the crop runs thin if unowned, previously-eligible players can be taken. Stash him otherwise if you can, and keep an eye on his progression to the AHL. He projects as a solid middle-six centre who can fill multiple buckets for your fantasy squad.

Pat Quinn - DobberProspectsJune 2023

In an absolute steal of a selection, the Wild selected Heidt at the end of the second round at 64th overall.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
