Scouting Feed

Ryan Downey - DobberProspectsMarch 2026

Bell has not taken a step forward from last year’s already modest numbers, managing just two goals and two assists in 44 AHL games this year after seven goals and 12 points in 61 games last year. The tools are there – size, compete level, physicality, and some skill – but the Calgary’s Wranglers roster has several forwards with a similar profile who would be ahead of him in the depth chart. With his ELC expiring this summer and limited upside on display, a new contract is far from guaranteed. Not a fantasy consideration in any format.

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspectsJune 2025

After several sips of espresso with the Calgary Wranglers in seasons past, Bell got the chance to spend the whole season in their uniform in 2024-2025. Across 61 games, he scored seven goals and five assists, adding 33 penalty minutes. Bell projects as a gritty bottom-six forward who might not be much of a fantasy contributor.

Carson Klein - DobberProspectsMay 2023

Parker Bell was drafted in 2022, fifth round, 155th overall by the Calgary Flames. He is currently on a professional tryout with the Calgary Wranglers for the AHL playoffs. He had a terrific year for the Tri-City Americans (AHL) this season, where he broke out and had a tremendous year. He had a lot more confidence and was extremely creative with the puck all year long. Given his 6-4 frame, he has great foot speed that makes it is hard for opposing players to handle him. He brings lots of passion and loves scoring goals for his team. He is a good passer but has a shoot-first mentality.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
