At 23 he is young enough for another team to take the flier, and a healthy training camp somewhere would tell us more than anything he showed this season. He remains more dangerous attacking in stride than grinding offense out of static zone play, so the upside is still there, but the profile reads more like a skilled middle-six swing than a player who has clearly forced NHL minutes yet.

The Dallas Stars acquired Tuomaala on October 30, 2025, from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Christian Kyrou. The move to Dallas provides Tuomaala a fresh start with a new NHL franchise.
