Play-driving winger with a nose for scoring areas and refined off-puck habits. A safe bet as a top-nine winger in the NHL with the potential for more.

Scouting Feed

Ioan Gheordanescu - DobberProspectsMarch 2026

Ohgren was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on December 12, 2025, in the package that saw Quinn Hughes dawn a Wild sweater. Ohgren was not getting meaningful opportunities in the Wild lineup and after six weeks with the Canucks he started to get comfortable and saw both his ice time and offensive production start to increase. Since joining the Canucks, Ohgren has put up a respectable 15 points in 41 games with a 12.5% shooting percentage during that span, and averaging around 16 minutes per game over the last 10. Compared to 18 games without a point for the Wild before the in-season trade, it would be fair to conclude Ohgren is gaining confidence and starting to show his potential. If Ohgren trains hard during the off-season and lands a top six role to start 2026-27, there is a chance he will be playing on a line with McKenna or Stenberg should Vancouver land one of the top three picks in the 2026 NHL draft.

Ioan Gheordanescu  - DobberProspectsJune 2025

After a back injury delayed his start to the 2023-24 season in the SHL, he finished the season strong with 19 points in 26 games. Not bad for a 20-year-old playing in one of the top professional leagues in the world. He followed that up with nearly a point per game place in the AHL at age 21, as well as 24 games at the NHL level. He looks primed to stick at the NHL level as a middle-six option in 2025-26 and may be pushing for a top-six role by the end of the season.

Nathan Leblanc - DobberProspectsJune 2023

Ohgren had a great 2022-23 season playing for Djurgardens IF in the HockeyAllsvenskan in what was his first full season as a professional. Ohgren experienced strong growth in his offensive abilities, posting 11 goals and nine assists for 20 points in 36 games, and adding 13 points in 17 playoff games. After being drafted with the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, Ohgren is expected to play his 2023-24 season for Farjestad BK in the SHL before coming over to Minnesota the season after. Based on a great growth year, Ohgren easily projects to be a top-six winger in the NHL.

Nick Richard - DobberProspectsJuly 2022

Öhgren has been selected by the Minnesota Wild with the 19th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.

DobberProspectsDecember 2021

There seems to be a common thought that out of the three highly rated prospects from the Djurgårdens system, Öhgren is the one with the safest floor, but also perhaps has the lowest ceiling. While I agree that Öhgren is the most pro-ready of the trio, I’m not convinced his ceiling is drastically lower than the other two. He has scored at a higher rate than both Östlund and Lekkerimäki at the J20 level and has been trusted to play more games in the SHL than Östlund and Lekkerimäki combined so far this season.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
