Dorrington appeared in 70 games with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack in 2025-26, posting 11 points and a minus-11 rating on the poorly performing team, after a nine game trail stint the prior season. Following the disappointing campaign, in which the Pack missed the playoffs, there has been a pretty healthy turnover on the squad, including a new head coach Jay Leach. With an infusion of new talent and a full AHL season under his belt, Dorrington looks to build upon his game in 2026-27.

He is likely to spend at least one more full season at the AHL level before possibly getting a call up to the NHL, but the Rangers’ depth chart is getting very crowded, especially on the left side. Dorrington is signed through the 2027-28 season, but could possibly be dealt for futures at some point, if the New York brass doesn’t envision a solid path forward for him within the organization.
Dorrington had an eventful year in 2024-25. While competing in his collegiate season with the Northeastern University Huskies, he was dealt to the Rangers in the JT Miller trade. He eventually signed an amateur tryout with his new organization’s AHL affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack, at the conclusion of his NCAA season. After posting 15 points in 37 games of play with the Huskies, the Massachusetts native appeared in nine games with the Wolf Pack, posting a goal and an assist.
The 6-2, 192 pound blueliner also gained valuable professional experience, and was mentored by fellow Massachusetts native, and Wolf Pack captain, Casey Fitzgerald. Dorrington took the information and experience into the offseason, armed with a plan of action to improve upon his game. He is likely to spend at least one full season at the AHL level, and is signed through the 2027-28 season.
Upon his collegiate team being eliminated from the NCAA tournament, Dorrington signed his entry level contract with the Rangers organization. He will report to the Hartford Wolf Pack on an ATO (Amateur Tryout) for the remainder of the current season, prior to his deal kicking in for the 2025-26 season.
