His numbers are not dazzling, but his speed is. Hallum brings intangible ankle-breaking speed to the table and pairs it with a smart and patient offensive game. He puts himself in the right spot and can break through defensive lines. If Hallum steps up to the AHL competition, expect a call-up that would inject speed into Vegas’ bottom-six.

The Vegas Golden Knights signed Hallum to a two-year, entry-level contract.

Jumping out as perhaps one of the fastest skaters in college hockey this past season, any conversation about Hallum’s game starts and ends with his game-breaking speed. An athletic force with strong bloodlines, the offense wasn’t there in his freshman year with Michigan. The hands and mind need to match the feet to equal more finish, and he’ll have increased responsibility back in school next year to see if he puts it together.

Hallum will likely be a key player in helping the University of Michigan recover from losing a few star players after this past season. Hallum, one of the fastest-skating players in his draft year, registered 29 goals and 41 assists for a total of 70 points split between the Green Bay Gamblers and the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the USHL, his final season before heading off to the NCAA. Hallum is still nearly a full college career away from contending for a spot on the Vegas Golden Knights roster, but should he find quick success in Michigan, they may be able to convince him to make the jump to the NHL in two-plus years if his development continues on its current trajectory.
