Scouting Feed

DobberProspectsMay 2026

The Buffalo Sabres, and Kulich himself, have discussed the blood clot issue that caused Kulich to miss the vast majority of the 2025-2026 season. He underwent a successful operation to remove the clot in March, and appears ready to rejoin the Sabres at training camp in the fall.

DobberProspects

Kulich remains a bright offensive star in the making in the Sabres depth chart, but his health should always be the main focus. Here is hoping that his issue is completely behind him, and we all look forward to seeing him on the ice again in the fall.

Alex Wyatt - DobberProspects

Now would be a great time to kick tires on his price in your leagues.

Kevin Wong - DobberProspectsAugust 2025

After a stellar rookie AHL year in 2023-24, Kulich took another leap forward this season. He spent the full year with the Sabres, scoring 15 goals and 24 points in 62 games. By the end of the season, he was playing on the team’s top line alongside Zach Benson and Tage Thompson, contributing skill and responsible two-way play. The tenacious work of both Kulich and Benson created room and opportunities for that trio. He returned to the AHL lineup during the postseason, as the NHL squad once again failed to qualify for the playoffs. In eight playoff games with Rochester, Kulich tallied two goals and eight points.

Kevin Wong - DobberProspectsJanuary 2024

Kulich finished 2022-2023 with an explosion of goals for the AHL’s Rochester Americans and garnered significant attention for his offensive skill set. In his sophomore campaign with Rochester, he has further increased his scoring output and solidified his role as a top scorer for his team. With sixteen goals and 24 points in 30 games, he is on pace to smash his goal-scoring total of 24 from last season while matching his point total. He represented Team Czechia at the 2024 World Juniors, playing a pivotal role. He led all players at the tournament in points with twelve in seven games played. He scored six goals during that span and helped carry his team to a bronze medal finish, defeating Team Canada and Team Finland in the process. He scored two goals and four points in their dramatic comeback win in the bronze medal match, opening the scoring for the Czechs while down 2-0, then tallying another goal to turn the score from 5-3 to 5-4. He assisted on Team Czechia’s subsequent two goals to give them a 6-5 lead, enough for the bronze medal victory against Team Finland. He was named to the Media All-Star team at the conclusion of the tournament. Upon his return to Rochester, Kulich was also named a 2024 AHL-All Star alongside teammate Isak Rosen. Both players made their NHL debut earlier in the campaign on November 25, 2023, a game in which Kulich received 14:53 of ice time.

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
