Scouting Feed

Ioan Gheordanescu     - DobberProspectsApril 2026

Welcome to the NHL Anton Frondell! With the 2025-26 SHL regular season over and Djurgardens IF eliminated from the playoffs, Frondell joined the Blackhawks at the end of March and has made an immediate impact. Through six games, Frondell has five points while averaging over 17 minutes a game, including nearly three minutes of power play time to boot. Frondell scored 20 goals and eight assists in 43 games in the SHL this season, becoming the first 18 year old to score 20 goals in the SHL since Daniel Sedin). Frondell was also the assistant captain for Team Sweden at the 2026 World Junior Championship, scoring five goals and three assists in seven games. He is tracking towards top six minutes in 2026-27, and looking more and more like he will be a star for both the Blackhawks and Team Sweden internationally.

Puneet Sharma - DobberProspectsNovember 2025

Anton Frondell has carried last season’s momentum straight into the SHL, building on the strong finish that helped Djurgårdens earn a promotion. His early production, 12 points in 17 games, shows his game is evolving beyond expectations. He’s added pace and creativity, driving play with more confidence and showing flashes of top-six upside. The offensive instincts and vision that boosted his draft stock to third overall are translating quickly against stronger competition. If he maintains this level, Frondell could soon push into legitimate top-line territory as he is one of Chicago’s most promising young forwards.

Puneet Sharma - DobberProspectsAugust 2025

Frondell steadily climbed into top-three draft talk thanks to his full-package power forward game. He blends speed, strength, and smart puck play and was excellent in the second half with Djurgården, showing poise and control against men in the Allsvenskan. His NHL Combine showing backed it up, with scouts being very impressed with his maturity and confidence. Frondell is not the most dynamic offensively, but he is dangerous in motion with a heavy shot and has been compared to Alexander Barkov, not a bad comparison. He has signed his three-year ELC and looks like he will return back to Sweden for the upcoming season.

Mark Henry - DobberProspectsJuly 2025

Selected third overall, Anton Frondell is now a member of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Ethan Lindley - DobberProspects

Final Rankings – Measuring 6-1 and 204lbs at the draft combine, Frondell is a tank on skates. He doesn’t so much outmuscle pro-level opponents, but rather eliminates them from the play entirely with his physicality. Frondell’s strength and crafty ability to protect the puck allows him the time to be patient and make effective decisions. It’s especially impressive how he finds soft areas to slide into and how he times his movements precisely in order to activate his lethal release. The shot itself explodes from his blade and is heavy enough to beat professional goaltenders from distance. Frondell handles the puck well, especially in tight areas around the net. He flashes moments of very dynamic handling, deceptive maneuvers, as well as intelligent play creation at times, but there could be more consistency in that area of his game. The compete and awareness allow him to disrupt play defensively. Frondell certainly has the tools to be at the very least a responsible middle six center, but if his combination of power and finesse continue to develop, he could evolve into a team’s leading goal scorer with a strong physical game to compliment his skill.—

What is PNHLe?

PNHLe is an offensive stat that is used to project a player’s point potential at the NHL level and is meant to standardize a variety of leagues so that prospects can be compared from one league with another.

PNHLe attempts to equalize all leagues, age and positions so that the offensive potential of a prospect can easily be compared with others, while also projecting future NHL point potential in the prime years of a player.

The problem with NHLe

The premise of the NHLe stat is certainly a great idea. If a player jumps directly from one league to the NHL there should be some precedent set by historical values that would indicate how many points that player should project to having in a full NHL season. However, it always bothered me that NHLe never took into account that younger players in the same league would always have a massive disadvantage compared to those that have more experience and are physically more mature in the same league. NHLe only looks at the present to predict how many points in one league are equated at the NHL level.
