Henricks, playing in his second season for the defending NCAA champion Western Michigan Broncos, has matched his point total from a season ago, with 13 points in 16 games played thus far in the 2025-26 collegiate season. He has also racked up 27 penalty minutes during those games. The 20-year-old winger and California native figures to spend at least another full season after this at the NCAA level before attempting to turn pro. His signing rights with New York expire on August 15, 2028, giving him and the organization plenty of time to chart a path forward.

The 2024-25 season was an eventful freshman season in NCAA hockey for Henricks, as his Western Michigan Broncos captured the NCAA title by defeating Boston University. Henricks, the 6-4, 216-pound winger, appeared in 41 games for the Broncos, posting eight goals and five assists. Although the team boasted several NHL draftees on its roster, Western Michigan was ultimately led by its balanced lineup and the guidance of head coach Pat Ferschweiler. In fact, after their NCAA triumph, some in the hockey community were pushing for the coach to get a look on an NHL bench. Getting back to Henricks, the big lefty, of course, had limited ice time on a well-balanced team loaded with more experienced players. Still, the team’s run to the NCAA championship was, as it would be for any player, an invaluable experience. Henricks will need at least another season or two of development before he is on the Rangers’ radar, and even then, he projects as a bottom-six player with limited fantasy upside.

The New York Rangers drafted Henricks in the sixth round (183rd overall) in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
